Planet Platforms has devised a way to provide safe access to the roofs of temporary buildings.
The college previously hired the unit on two occasions, and tried it out at Peterhouse College and St.
John's College before making the purchase.
"We needed a vehicle to be able to go through the College courts, travel to external properties and go inside high rooms such as the Dining Hall".
"The vehicle would also need to cope with level and undulating terrains, operate in the tightest of areas and run quietly", expressed Mike Finch, Deputy Superintendent of Buildings at the college.
Planet Eastern provided the solution in the form of their tracked access platform - Gold Lift.
Mark Arnold, director at Planet Eastern explains: "The Gold Lift Platform is ideal for the College's requirement as it will not sink into lawns, can go through 'standard' doors and extend to reach high places".
"It also has longitudinal stability and weight balance thanks to the new concept tracks, which are longer and stronger".
Founded in 1511 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII, St.
John's College is another prestigious addition to Planet's client list that comprises Rolls Royce, Thomas Cook, The Royal Albert Hall, ICI Chemicals, Shell Offshore and The National Trust.
