UK water jet cutting company has ordered a GBP 500,000 12m x 3m waterjet cutting centre from Bystronic UK and has ual light guarded cutting zones for tandem loading.

Bystronic UK has received an order from major customer The Waterjet Group for equipment valued at in excess of GBP 500,000 for a 12m x 3m waterjet cutting centre.

It is the largest Bystronic waterjet to be supplied by the company in the UK and the sixth waterjet system it has supplied to The Waterjet Group.

To date the Waterjet Group has invested in excess of GBP 2 million on Bystronic equipment.

This latest high specification waterjet features separate, dual light guarded cutting zones for tandem loading to allow increased productivity and flexibility.

To further increase productivity it is also equipped with four cutting heads with independent height sensing Z-axis carriages.

It has two Bypumps and is capable of having a drill unit retrofitted at a later date.

The Waterjet Group, with sites in both the north and south of England, is growing from strength to strength through its policy of investing in the latest up-to-date equipment.

70% of the company's turnover emanates from the aerospace industry having obtained a full list of approvals and accreditations from Airbus, Bombardier, BAE Systems, GKN Westland and Rolls Royce, to name just a few.

The company has also recently been approved for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

Other strong markets include the defence, oil and gas as well as off-shore industries.

As a result of this success The Waterjet Group has recently appointed Smiley Noel as aerospace business development director and the company is currently moving its northern site in Normanton, West Yorkshire to a new purpose built facility in Barnsley, South Yorkshire close to Junction 38 of the M1.

This new 25,000ft2, secure, self contained facility has been built with waterjet cutting in mind and will stock high-value materials such as titanium, nickel alloy (Ni alloys) and stainless steel.

To this end it will have 24/7 gated security.

All existing employees will be moving to the Barnsley site and the move will create five new vacancies.

Noel commented: "With many of our aerospace customers wanting us to pull into the supply chain at a higher level we wanted to further increase our abilities by investing in a new machine.

We naturally looked at other suppliers of waterjet machines but again chose a Bystronic machine as the Byjet systems are well engineered and well built machines.

Importantly, the service we have received from Bystronic UK Limited is unquestionable." He said: "This is the largest and highest specification Byjet in Europe for sub-contract and aerospace manufacturing.

The large bed size will provide increased material utilisation, imperative when processing 65 mm titanium.

We have the facility on the machine to have two working areas of 6m x 3m cutting and loading/unloading at the same time and of course we will also have the option to cut 12m in one go, resulting in less handling and in turn more savings for the end user.

In addition, the four cutting heads will allow us to cut four times the amount of components at the same time." Noel concluded: "This machine will transform our business and further enhance The Waterjet Group's position as one of the most successful waterjet facilities in the UK.".
