Airbus Uses Plumtree's Corporate Portal To Optimise Operations And Bring Together Staff, Customers and Suppliers

Enterprise Web leader, Plumtree Software (Nasdaq: PLUM), today announced that Airbus, the leading commercial aeronautics manufacturer, is deploying Plumtree's corporate portal for its staff, customers and suppliers, ultimately reaching 80,000 people An Airbus spokesperson said, "Following the integration of the five founding companies behind the European consortium operating under the Airbus name, the portal development is one of the seven priority projects aimed at facilitating the integration of our activities

The portal initiative is vital in enabling us to bring together all of Airbus' staff, customers and suppliers; its success has strategic significance for our organisation".

Airbus has opted to deploy three distinct portals to provide a tailored resource for users and user communities with distinct expectations and profiles: Airbus People, for staff, Airbus World, dedicated to the aeronautics manufacturer's customers and Airbus Supply, for suppliers and sub-contractors.

AIRBUS PEOPLE CONNECTING AIRBUS STAFF WORLDWIDE.

The first phase of the group portals project, Airbus People, is already deployed to over 40,000 staff worldwide.

A key tool for promulgating the company's corporate culture, it provides access to services such as human resources, internal communication, e-mail and a multimedia library, and aids collaboration between multiple working groups and internal communities, for example around the development of the A380 jumbo jet.

With the objective of improving information flow and interaction with its "key audiences", Airbus decided to developed specific communities for the wide range of constituencies that it will serve.

PLUMTREE'S PORTAL BRINGS TOGETHER PEOPLE, AS WELL AS APPLICATIONS AND CONTENT.

Specifically, the Airbus portal is required to provide each user with access to:.

Its strategic applications, such as SAP or custom-built legacy applications.

all available documents and information.

e-mail Airbus uses the "Plumtree Enterprise Class Framework for SAP" tool to facilitate access to SAP application resources via SAP Web services portlets integrated to the portal.

Airbus also uses dedicated portlets for Interwoven and eRoom in order to manage document sharing and collaboration directly from Plumtree's corporate portal, thereby increasing the overall efficiency of its organisation.

In deploying customer and supplier portals, which is the second phase of the project, Airbus is maximising its investment by developing one single infrastructure to support all three environments, relying on the Plumtree technology to reduce workload for development and interface with third party technologies and applications as well as efficiently supporting the increasing number of users that the second phase brings.

The Airbus Supply and Airbus World portals should be fully operational in the course of 2004.

"By selecting Plumtree for its strategic portal project, Airbus has demonstrated its confidence in our capability to provide a solution that reflects their requirements.

Notably, to bring together up to 80,000 people, both internal and external, and address, at the same time, issues such as multiple languages and security inherent in any international project of this scope," said Charlie Abrahams, Plumtree's European Managing Director.
