Storage system access saves GBP
2000/month
Storage system access control has enabled a precision motion products company to have total control on their consumable tools allowing the company to focus on more productive issues.
Initial savings of GBP 2000/month have been achieved on tooling and consumables at Hepco Slide Systems with the assistance of their supplier, Bideford Tool, with the introduction of P:ACE Installed in December 2003 the Polstore: Access Control System has enabled Hepco to have total control on their consumable tools supplied to their manufacturing facility allowing the company to focus on more productive issues

One of the aims for Bideford Tool was to remotely control from their distribution outlet in Bideford, North Devon all consumables delivered and used to their customer base.
Prior to purchase of this system Bill Carter from Bideford Tool enquired, "What we want to do is interrogate what stock is required and what the supply trend will be on a remote basis?" With the addition to P:ACE of Sandvik's AutoTAS Tool Management Software this issue was resolved.
Of course costs are another factor as controlled access systems, although compliment the standard storage medium of drawer cabinets and shelving, can be high: P:ACE integrated with AutoTAS is a low cost solution.
Due to the strict control of stock, Hepco and Bideford have formed a succinct supply relationship.
"Another important factor is the paper trail," remarks Carter.
"We both now know with accuracy what has been supplied and used; therefore invoice queries are quickly resolved." The stock is now held in the main office and monitored by John Stacey, Purchasing Manager.
Initially an audit of existing stock was taken, finding valuable stock on the shop floor that had not been accounted for.
