Industrial wireless technology products are compatible with existing connectBlue Bluetooth and wirless LAN products, so developers can reduce implementation costs and time-to market.

Nohau has introduced a range of ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 wireless technology products to the UK.

The connectBlue products include an OEM module and an industrial IP65 Serial Port Adapter.

They share the same form factor and electrical interfaces as other connectBlue Bluetooth and wireless LAN product ranges, and have been developed to meet the tough demands of industrial environments.

As connectBlue products are now in effect the 'de facto' world industrial standard, users can to take advantage of the integration capabilities of three different wirless technologies.

The new products are compatible with all existing connectBlue Bluetooth and wirless LAN products, so developers can meet new customer requirements with reduced implementation costs and time-to market.

The range is delivered with standard Serial Port Adapter firmware and can be configured with AT commands using the connectBlue Toolbox computer software.

IEEE 802.15.4 products use a low data rate solution with multi-month to multi-year battery life and very low complexity.

The radio technology operates in an unlicensed, international frequency band.

* Serial Port Adapter - the Serial Port Adapter application has been specially designed for industrial applications, and is optimised for high performance and robust operation.

In addition, it is possible to use the IEEE802.15.4 compliant hardware either to implement customer specific application software or download a free ZigBee reference application into the modules.

As well as industrial applications such as sensors and remote controls, other potential applications include smart badges and domestic automation products.

With the introduction of these latest products, connectBlue claimed to be able to provide the world's most comprehensive range of wireless industrial products.

* About Nohau, UK - originally part of the Nohau Group, founded in Sweden in 1981, Nohau UK is now an independent, privately owned company which has taken over the group's business interests in the UK and Ireland.

The company distributes a wide range of embedded systems related hardware and software, including Real-Time Operating Systems, development tools, protocol stacks, protocol analysers and traffic generators.

In addition it supplies WLAN and Bluetooth communication modules and other wireless connectivity solutions.

Major principals include global players such as Klocwork, LeCroy, ConnectBlue, Phytec, Keil, HCC-Embedded, IAR Systems, Quadros Systems, Hi-Tech, and IXXAT.

It also provides expert advice and training to support its sales of embedded hardware, tools and software.

* About connectBlue - connectBlue is a leading provider of wireless solutions for demanding applications in medical, industrial, mobility, control.

personal safety and security areas.

Based on Bluetooth technology, wireless LAN and IEE 802.15.4 technologies, connectBlue provides ready-to-use products and modules as well as custom design solutions in both hadware and software.

connectBlue was founded in 2000 and has offices in Malmo, Sweden, and Chicago, USA.

* About ZigBee - ZigBee is a worldwide public wireless protocol standard, based on IEEE802.15.4, which provides additional network, security and application layers.

It allows system builders to create medium to large wireless networks of sensors and controllers.

It offers a wide variety of network topologies, including star, tree and mesh, to support a variety of applications.

It is highly secure (AES encrypted), requires minimal power, and has worldwide interoperability with other ZigBee products.

It can also co-exist with other wireless mediums such as Bluetooth, WiFi, cellular, etc.

The standard is coordinated by the ZigBee Alliance, which developed it, and now coordinates compliance testing.
