Batch controller features a stability facility that is specifically designed to prevent the costly and time-consuming problems associated with feed or discharge pumps running dry.

The EP50 Proweigher Batch Controller from process weighing specialists, Procon Engineering (incorporating Defiant and Negretti), is now available with a Stability Facility, specifically designed to prevent the costly and time-consuming problems associated with feed or discharge pumps running dry With this feature, the EP50 can be configured so that it initiates an alarm when the rate of weight change during feed or discharge cycles falls below a preset lower limit

This puts the EP50 into 'Hold' mode, signals the pump to stop and warns the operator of a malfunction, thus allowing remedial action to be taken before the pump runs dry and seizes or burns out.

The EP50 is extremely flexible and is designed to be used as a standalone batch or process controller, bag filler, loss in weight or belt weigher controller as well as a multiple trip amplifier.

The standard unit can store 99 recipes with up to 16 ingredients, expandable to an almost infinite number of recipes and ingredients when used with PLCs and SCADA systems.

The unit can provide enhanced standard batch logs and incorporates user definable, bi-directional serial ports with a choice of protocols as standard.

Modbus supervisory control also comes as standard which can be converted to integrate with other industry standard bus systems including Profibus and DeviceNet.

Procon have recently installed 17 EP50 based batch control systems for Akzo Nobel Ltd at their Decorative Coatings plant.
