Specialist foam converter, Polyformes, have installed yet another CNC machine to enable them to fully service the Tool Control requirements of the UK and Europe's most demanding customers.

Polyformes' Business Development Manager, Ian Rumsey says that growth in tool control has been phenomenal over the last few years as more and more customers become aware not just of the benefits, but the necessity in maintaining control over tools that enable work to be completed with optimum efficiency and vastly improved downtimes Polyformes supply dual colour foam trays, manufactured to suit each specific tool required thus giving every seperate piece of kit its own home within the tray

The dual colouring of the foam means that if any tool has not been returned to its pocket, it is instantly noticeable.

Customers repeatedly call to say what a difference it has made to the fulfilment task times and massively lowered requirement for replacement tools, says Rumsey.

The foam trays can be made any size to fit all types of trolley, case and shelf area.

A variety of colours are available which allows for easy delineation of tool sets.

Materials used are closed cell expanded polyethylene foam, usually in a 45kg/m3 density though some companies choose higher or lower grades to suit.

As well as the standard Plastazote cross-linked foam, a metallocene Plastazote range offers soft touch non-scratch material ideally suited for newly manufactured pieces.

As well as supplying the foam trays, Polyformes also supply water and dustproof Explorer Cases and bespoke aluminium transit cases, all of which can be used for portable tool control tray housing.

Sectors using tool control include automotive, aircraft maintenance, all engineering build applications, F1 racing, naval and forces maintenance and repair.
