Palletcap, the bright yellow cone used to protect vulnerable freight, is about to play a part in the relief of suffering in Africa.
Pallet Load Protector Reduces Damage By 90%
When the WD-40 company added the 1001 carpet care range to its portfolio, it turned to Palletcap to help counter rising levels of stock damage during storage and transit.
In doing so, it prevents crushing damage at every point in the supply chain.
That has typically cut such losses by at least 90 per cent and in some cases has totally eradicated that drain on profits and the waste of time associated with it, said the company.
Palletcap has been short-listed in the storage and handling category of the CILT (UK) Awards.
Last year's winner was ARGOS, with Linpac Materials Handling and Walkers Snack Foods (UK) as runners-up.
This year Palletcap is up against The Hazchem Network and SDI Greenstone in the final.
The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony on October 20.
Palletcap's managing director Hayley Shirley said: "Things are moving so fast for us, it's hard to take it all in.
We've quickly established a loyal customer base in the UK, including manufacturers like The WD-40 Company, DDD Pharmaceuticals and Pritchitt Dairies, as well as UK hauliers and pallet networks such as Palletways, Pall-Ex, The Pallet Network and UK Pallets and it's growing all the time.
We're also currently working with Passport to Export, following a variety of enquiries from overseas." She added that the reduction in top-crushing claims reported by customers frequently equates to savings of thousands of pounds.
At the same time, they report a satisfying reduction in administration, insurance claims, excess payments and ex-gratia and goodwill gestures to customers.
"Some have won new and lucrative accounts by including Palletcap in their sales portfolios and in many cases defection of customers to other operators has definitely been prevented by introducing Palletcap to their more vulnerable freight.
The biggest advantage to customers is the effect that Palletcap has had on the reputation of the user.
It saves everyone time and money and boosts the credibility of UK pallet networks and the supply chains they serve," added Shirley.
