Programmable power chuck reduces set-up times
Programmable power chuck, that provides far greater versatility and a significant reduction in setting up times, will be shown at the UK's Productivity Partnership in the North exhibition.
Highlight of the show was a GBP 300,000 order placed on the two companies for 3 jaw power chucks and cylinders, collet chucks, cylinders, manual chucks, turrets and Dickson Toolposts.
With an additional investment of over GBP 3 million, the two companies combined their manufacturing and research forces at Pratt's Halifax site some twelve months ago to ensure the high quality of the product ranges could be maintained whilst prices continued to be controlled.
"We are seeing the results of this in our normal trading" General Manager/Director Peter Simms said "but more especially we saw the effects during the show.
We were amazed and delighted by the sheer volume of customers who came to us as the chosen supplier for their projects and even more so by the number of companies with which we have not previously dealt.
One of our greatest advantages is the size and range of our stockholding: for instance Crawfords holds over 33,000 different collets in stock, including all the commonly used Crawford Multibore collets, the 5C and R8 collets and the Dickson Toolpost.
That enables us to meet the whole of a customer's requirement, not just the frequently used collets but also the atypical collets which are needed - often as a one-off - to complete a job.
Our ability to develop specials quickly thanks to our big design team and extensive manufacturing facility (4,000m2) also gives us an edge in the more difficult or complex workholding tasks customers have".
