Sheet metal work agent adds water jet
cutting
Press and Shear Machinery has taken over the marketing in the UK of Italian-built Technocut water jet cutting and profiling systems from CMS.
Nottingham-based CMS, whose Italian parent group includes Technocut, a company that designs and manufactures water jet cutting systems, has appointed Press and Shear Machinery to market this product range in the UK It will leave CMS free to concentrate on marketing the group's machining centres for 5-axis profiling of non-ferrous materials

Mark Britton, managing director of Press and Shear, commented, "Water jet cutters perfectly complement our range of sheet metal processing machines, which includes Finn-Power turret punch presses and laser-cutting machines, Baykal press brakes and shears, and recently the new Electrabrake line of manual magnetic folders." He added: "Although our expertise is primarily in sheet metal, we will be offering the machines to job shops and OEMs for cutting a wide range of materials including glass, stone, tile, upholstery and even food.
A machine is available in our Tamworth showroom for demonstrations." Technocut is notable for being the only Italian manufacturer whose water jet cutting systems are produced entirely in-house, including the pressure intensifier and all associated computer-aided engineering software.
Technological features within the product range include intelligent kerf control, 5-axis as well as 3-axis cutting, and a bridge that weighs up to three tonnes yet accelerates at 1m/s2 to speeds of 20m/min and can be positioned to an accuracy of +/-0.08 mm.
