Bending machine has programmable angle control

The Stierli Bender 300 CNC/WP is a hydraulically actuated bending machine from Swiss company Stierli Bieger, represented in the UK by Press and Shear Machinery, Tamworth.

Widely used in the steel and construction sectors, horizontal bending machines are finding new uses for producing sheet metal parts and processing a variety of materials.

The process allows closed forms, boxes, pipework and frames to be bent to exacting tolerances.

With the Bender 300 CNC/WP, data such as material type and dimensions as well as required angles and leg lengths can be entered at the control, which is capable of storing 200 programs with up to 10 bend positions each.

To assist the operator, the control even indicates when a workpiece needs to be turned.

Operation is by a remote handheld control or foot pedal.

Bending stroke is programmable to 300mm and includes an allowance for springback of the material, which is calculated automatically by the software.

So too is the bending force, variable between 30 and 300kN (3-30 tonf), and the length of material needed to produce the part.

The programmed stroke can be adjusted in +/-0.1mm steps at any time to take account of material variations.

The die holder has a height of 200mm and the punch tool holder is 80mm in diameter, allowing a variety of work to be undertaken with simple and rapid tool interchange.

The spacious work platform gives stability when bending larger components.

Installed weight of the machine is 900kg and footprint is 1,250 x 850mm.

Stierli Bieger also manufactures manual horizontal bending machines, flat steel shears and straightening presses from 85 to 6000kN (8.5 to 600 tonf) capacity, as well as two-axis CNC bending machines.
