(Also available on-site for up to 10 people) The PROFIBUS Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in the UK has introduced a new 2 and a half day short course covering Open-PLC programming using the international standard IEC 61131-3.

The course is designed for Engineers and Technicians who want to gain a recognised qualification in open-PLC programming using IEC 61131-3.

No prior experience of PLC programming is necessary, however, the course is also equally well suited for experienced Programmers who wish to move to IEC 61131-3 compliant systems.

Certified PROFIBUS Installer Course ­ 26 Oct 04.

(Also available on-site for up to 12) An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation.

This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP/FMS, PA and optical fibre technology.

Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

Commissioning, Troubleshooting and Maintenance Demo Day ­ 27 Oct 04.

Free of charge seminar featuring use of the ProfiTrace high-speed network analyzer for PROFIBUS.

Delegates will be shown how to identity and trace classical failures such as double addresses, wire breaks and configuration faults as well as diagnose random errors such as data overshoots, damaged telegrams and repeats.

PROFIBUS Product Development Workshop ­ 28-29 Oct 04.

This 2-day training course is especially suited for product vendors and engineering companies who want to develop a PROFIBUS product.

Step by step the routine from product specifications up to the prototype will be handled.

The course covers ASICs, software drivers and development tools for PROFIBUS design.

The attendee will also learn about galvanic isolation, grounding, shielding and ATEX compliance.

At the end of the course the attendees will be capable of independently developing a worthy PROFIBUS product.
