Precitec has unveiled its new system for GMA laser hybrid welding with a processing head that has been designed with high outputs.

At this year's EuroBLECH Exhibition, Precitec unveiled their new system for GMA laser hybrid welding Laser hybrid welding ideally combines the high welding speed of laser welding with the high fusion performance of the GMA process

The advantages of this system for the user are high-speed welding, the ability to span large gaps and a low degree of distortion.

All GMA components form an efficient combination of laser and arc welding and have the added benefit of being compact in design.

Both processes complement each other in operation but can still be controlled separately.

This enables the whole process to be easily optimised by adjusting procedure-specific parameters.

GMA laser hybrid welding is typically used in automotive construction, shipbuilding, railway vehicle construction, the steel industry and tank and plant construction.

The materials involved for these applications are various steels and aluminium alloys.

The processing head has been designed with high outputs for GMA laser hybrid welding and is used in industrial series production.

It will comfortably meet all demands placed on it.

It has a compact, lightweight design and enables the monitoring of the welding process thanks to its sensors integrated in the welding head.

These sensors control the temperature of the welding head and the protective window - they also monitor the contamination level of the window.

Integrated measuring of laser performance provides information on possible reductions in the laser beam supply.

The welding process can also be monitored by means of the laser welding monitor sensors integrated into the head (plasma, temperature, back reflection).

This is invaluable in ascertaining the quality of the weld seam.

The focusing optics are protected by a protective window and a high-performance Cross Jet.

Gas and water cooling hoses are situated inside the welding head, providing an unrestricted working area.

All the necessary connections are located centrally in the upper part of the head and are protected by a connecting flange.
