CMMS - try before you buy
Much has been written in the past about the implementation of CMMS systems, Bryan Weir suggests a "try before you buy" approach to reduce risk and cost.
Website gives low-down on CMM selection and use
A UK based independent CMMS consultancy has recently re-launched its web site that contains downloadable free information on CMMS selection and implementation.
Clients receive a comprehensive audit form by email.
Currently available in two versions, for facilities and manufacturing maintenance, the form includes detailed notes that assist in its completion.
Unlimited email help is available throughout the process although the form has been designed such that this is seldom required.
Perspective's principal consultant, Bryan Weir, said, "We think that this is an excellent, cost-effective way of getting assistance with CMMS selection.
We keep our charges very low because we don't have to leave the office to conduct the audit.
We get the opportunity to work with people all over the world.
We can do this for anyone who needs help with CMMS selection.
For example, at the moment we are conducting an audit for a large country club near Miami, in Florida! We have found that maintenance managers now start with the Internet when looking for software.
They soon realise that the number of systems that are available make selection extremely difficult.
We can save them lots of time and money by analysing their requirements and recommending a suitable solution." Being priced so low this service can also be used by any UK company as a first step in its selection process.
For a small sum of money maintenance managers can now sit back and let Perspective recommend a single vendor or, if they choose, a field of three or four "contenders".
Weir said that Perspective would benefit from occasional follow up work in the UK so this was good business for both the clients and his consultancy.
