"Vocollect's mission is to expand voice-directed work across an increasing variety of applications and market segments.
This unique collaboration between two leaders in the mobile computing industry brings together two platforms to deliver the value of voice to workers, helping companies reduce errors and improve productivity," said Tim Eusterman, vice president of marketing and business development, Vocollect.
"We look forward to leveraging Psion Teklogix' strong reputation in the global supply chain and logistics market to meet wide-ranging customer needs across the globe." The two companies collaborated closely to maximize the overall voice performance of the Workabout PRO Speech.
The ISM audio circuit has been optimised to run Vocollect Voice at a performance standard virtually equivalent to that of Vocollect's Talkman wearable computers and has a built-in connection for the industrial grade breakaway connectors of Vocollect's SR Series headsets.
The Workabout PRO Speech utilises a modular hardware accessory kit designed by Vocollect specifically for Psion Teklogix.
It consists of two main components: a Headset Connector End-cap, and the ISM, which was created using Psion Teklogix' Workabout PRO Hardware Development Kit.
This interfaces directly with the main logic board of the terminal.

Providing our customers with speech capabilities in the Workabout PRO supports this demand and aligns with one of our key 2006 corporate strategies: to provide multi-modal communication capabilities within our line of mobile computing products," said Duncan Smillie, managing director at Psion Teklogix.
"The Workabout PRO Speech enables customers to leverage voice technology within a hand-held mobile computer along with other data collection technologies such as RFID, imaging and scanning." The Workabout PRO Speech is available today to customers through Psion Teklogix' global sales offices.
