Food Pot Filling And Heat Sealing On Show At PPMA
UK designer and manufacturer of tray sealing and filling equipment, Packaging Automation, will launch the latest addition to its machine range at this years' UK PPMA show.
The decision was taken by Marlow Foods, manufacturers of the Quorn range of products, to move its tray sealing in-house to streamline production.
The Packaging Automation (PA) machine is being used to seal the thousands of packs of Quorn mince and Quorn pieces supplied to retailers throughout the UK every day.
After considering packaging equipment from six possible suppliers, Marlow Foods, which employs 350 people at its base in North Yorkshire, chose the fully automatic Vision 400, which has been installed with a specially designed carousel auto-loading denester at the end of a continuous production line.

Heat Sealing Vegetables Alternative To Sleeving
Packaging Automation's dealings with its newest customer were an object lesson in how to win friends and influence people.
The denester, bespoke to Marlow Foods, was designed to hold up to 800 trays at a time to ensure production speeds could be maintained and labour reduced.
Marlow Foods' project manager, Mark Buckworth said: "The support we've had from Packaging Automation has been excellent, not just with the machine, but also with liaising with tray and film suppliers to ensure we had the most suitable products for our operation." The Vision 400, one of Packaging Automation's latest machines, is said to combine flexibility with simplicity whilst being suitable for sealing a range of products in ready meals, meat, poultry, fish, and fresh produce, for instance.
Its optimum speed, dependent on the viscosity of the product, is claimed to be 72 packs per minute.
Amongst the Vision 400's other benefits are tooling and product changes in two minutes, claimed PA.
If required, it can be used for modified atmospheric packaging.
PA added that for Marlow Foods, the Vision's robust quality construction really made it stand out from the competition and the availability of 24-hour service support and turn-around on spare parts were also key factors in the decision to buy the Vision 400.
Buckworth commented: "From the outset we were very impressed with Packaging Automation - from the first meeting, through the trials and training, right through to the installation and operation of the machine on-site.
PA provided an excellent service.
What has particularly stood out has been the honesty and depth of knowledge the PA team has shown throughout." Packaging Automation's sales manager Neil Ashton said: "For Marlow Foods' first move in to tray sealing we worked closely with the company every step of the way, designing bespoke systems and using our extensive expertise in the industry to provide the level of support needed.".
