Flexible packaging sales in China are forecast to be worth 3.8 billion Euros in 2010, with a volume of 1.7 million tons.
According to the report, the food sector will continue to dominate the use of flexible materials, but there is evidence of a slow down in the more traditional areas of use.
In fruit and vegetables, respondents forecast generally lower than overall market growth, whilst fresh meats, fish, and poultry's growth in 2004-05 was forecast to be 4.5 per cent, declining to a rate of 4.2 per cent for the period 2005-10.
Confectionery will hold the largest market share of 12.9 per cent in 2010.
The report highlights PE films as the flexible packaging material with the greatest demand.
The annualised rate of growth for the period 2005 to 2010 is estimated at 3.5 per cent, to yield a total volume of 1.361 million tons of demand in 2010.
