A groundbreaking interactive promotion from Wrigley's - the first of its kind in the world to incorporate a unique numbering system - has benefited from Payne's innovative lottery tape.
New horseshoe tab system
The latest "horseshoe tab" tear tape system from Payne provides consumers and brand owners with enhanced easy opening access to their products.
"The most familiar method of achieving this is for the consumer to add a self-adhesive circle, but stationery manufacturers are recognising the benefit of selling their products with built-in reinforcement as an added value feature." Using Payne's self adhesive tape for reinforcement is ideal because it can be easily applied at the point of manufacture, enabling manufacturers to incorporate a reinforcement solution into their existing production line, quickly and cost effectively.
Tapes are available in a range of thicknesses from 26 micron to 125 micron, ensuring that an appropriate solution can be supplied to match the base material.
One company that has benefited from this approach is Italian paper manufacturer Cartiere Paolo Pigna, for whom Payne has provided integrated reinforcement of punched holes on individual sheets of paper.
Cartiere Paolo Pigna turned to Payne to devise a suitable solution that could provide the necessary durability but which could be integrated with its production line.
With ease of application paramount, Payne established that an 18mm 40 micron tape wound on 10km reels best matched the average length of Cartiere Paolo Pigna's reels of paper.
This ensures that changeovers can be conducted simultaneously, minimising waste and downtime.
"Using Supastrip to reinforce the punched holes in our products is cost-effective, easy to integrate with our production facilities, and offers added value to consumers," comments the Marketing Manager of Cartiere Paolo Pigna.
Simon Wildash, Head of Marketing at Payne, adds: "This application is proof of Payne's technical expertise and ability to adapt existing products to meet new and innovative concepts.
"With wide capability and experience in manufacturing tapes of considerable lengths, slit to a range of widths within demanding tolerances, Payne is well placed to provide customised solutions for a range of stationery products," he adds.
