Precision linear stages are at
affordable price
For precision automation uses, a motorized family of high-precision linear stages are combined with low-cost servo motor controller to form very affordable motion control systems.
PI (Physik Instrumente), a leading manufacturer of nanopositioning and precision motion-control equipment for nanotechnology, photonics, semiconductor and life science applications, offers the new motorized M-400 family (M-403, M-404, M-413 and M-414) of high-precision linear stages Combined with the low-cost Mercury servo motor controller, these stages form very affordable, high-value, motion control systems

Closed-loop scanning stages are flexure-guided
Closed-loop flexure-guided piezoelectric scanning stages provide a record travel range of 1000 microns and allow nanotechnology/precision microscopy probing of larger areas than before.
Nanopositioning Z-stage has piezoelectrics/servos
A fully-integrated hybrid Z-nanopositioning system employing piezoelectric and DC-motor drives gives unlimited resolution and very fast response with long travel ranges and high holding forces.
Typical applications of the translators include: precision automation; metrology; research and development; quality control and semiconductor test equipment.
Features and advantages include the following.
* True min incremental otion to 0.1 micron.
* Motor / endocer resolution to 0.012 micron.
* Very cost-effective, stand-alone and PC-plug-in servo controllers.
* Two drive options: leadscrews (lower cost) and recirculating ball screws (higher speed and longer lifetime).
* Four different precision / load classes.
* Three motor options: DC-gearhead (low power), DC ActiveDrive direct (faster) and stepper motors (lower cost).
* Travel ranges 25mm (1in) to 300mm (12in).
* Load capacity to 50kg (110 lb).
These precision micropositioning stages provide high-performance at a very attractive price.
The integrated low-friction ball-screws combine high duty-cycles and velocities with minimum incremental motion of 0.1 micron.
* High load and maintenance-free - all models of the M-400 family are equipped with high-precision linear guiding rails and recirculating ball bearings.
Their high load capacity allows them to carry up to 50kg (110 lb) and to push/pull up to 100N (22 lbf).
The recirculating ball bearings are maintenance free and immune to the cage migration which can plague crossed roller bearings.
* Low cost of ownership - a variety of low-cost stand alone and plug-in-board motion controllers is available.
These high-quality micropositioning stages are especially cost effective in high performance, high-duty-cycle applications, when combined with the with the networkable C-862 Mercury controller.
