Quantachrome Instruments renowned Autosorb-1 gas sorption analyser, in its newest version, now combines static, manometric measurements for complete chemisorption.

Quantachrome Instruments renowned Autosorb-1 gas sorption analyser, in its newest version, now combines static, manometric measurements for complete chemisorption (and physisorption) isotherms, plus flow methods such as pulse titration and fully automated TPR (temperature programmed reduction), TPO (temperature programmed oxidation) and TPD (temperature programmed desorption) Catalyst researchers, manufacturers and users can now analyze heterogenous catalysts for BET surface area, pore size, metal area and dispersion, reduction profiles, acid site distribution, heats of adsorption and activation energy etc in a single unit

A choice of detectors for flow mode is offered, TCD or mass spectrometer - both can even be accommodated together.

A cold trap (for condensible reaction or desorption products) and loop injection valve are also available options.

This hybridization of techniques that Quantachrome call "FlowStat" has significantly reduced the investment costs normally associated with multiple units for complete catalyst texture characterization.

Commercial gas sorption analyzers have traditionally been only of one type, relying either solely on static pressure measurements (manometric) of adsorption and desorption of single gases or a continual flow of gas(es) over the sample with a downstream detector monitoring changes in gas composition, but not both.

Rarely does such a small benchtop footprint (~0.5 m2) as the Autosorb-1, with its dual-measuremnt modes, offer so much capability in the field of porous materials characterization.
