Polymer research firm names managing
director
Vice president and managing director of Smithers Rapra Technology (formerly Rapra Technology) is now James L Dowey who has extensive expertise in testing equipment.
James L Dowey, a long-standing industrial executive with extensive expertise in testing equipment, has been named vice president and managing director of Smithers Rapra Technology (formerly Rapra Technology) He replaces Hugh D Pace who has left the company to become chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America, effective June 4, 2007

Dowey, 58, is currently director of Tyre Uniformity Machinery at Kobelco Stewart Bolling (KSBI), a leading manufacturer of tyre, rubber and plastics process equipment based in Hudson, Ohio, in the USA, and a subsidiary of Kobe Steel in Japan.
"Jim will be an excellent addition to the company and will provide a seamless transition in managing our business and international growth opportunities," said Michael Hochschwender, president and CEO of The Smithers Group, parent company.
Dowey will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Smithers Rapra's independent polymer research, testing and consulting activities, which encompass extensive physical, analytical and processing laboratory services; research programmes on evolving technologies; consultancy projects for companies and governmental agencies; and a full complement of information services.
