Radisys raises industry standard with leading COM express modules and embedded server

RadiSys has announced the availability of two new PICMG Compatible COM Express modules as well as a quad core embedded server that deliver unsurpassed performance and functionality.

The Intel Core2 Duo processor-based COM Express module coupled with dual channel memory brings maximum computing performance to imaging, gaming, and test and measurement devices that require the smallest COM Express form factor on the market.

The second COM Express module being announced features an extended temperature range COM Express module and fills a highly desired need for in-flight infotainment, industrial and military applications that demand operability in conditions outside the standard 0 to 55C window of existing COM Express modules.

The quad core server with Intel Core microarchitecture increases the performance of imaging and signaling applications five to seven fold compared to servers available just 12 months ago.

The breakthrough RadiSys CE945GM, utilising the Intel Core2 Duo processor L7400, adds to the already successful CE945GM Dual Core product line.

At a 1.5GHz Clock Speed with a 667MHz front side bus, the L7400 17 watt processor enables Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions to be implemented in a single clock cycle as opposed to two clock cycles in previous Intel Pentium M processors.

Combined with dual channel memory, this innovative design delivers increased performance of up to 67 percent over existing single channel memory COM Express solutions.

With its compact 95 x 110 mm size and unparalleled performance levels, it is ideal for space constrained applications that are memory or computational intensive.

The RadiSys CE738-E combines the Intel Pentium M processor Low Voltage 738 at 1.4 GHz on a PICMG compatible COM Express module and extended -25C to 70C temperature range.

Typically available only from 0 to 55C, this is the first COM Express module to address in-flight airline entertainment systems and industrial and military applications that require operation in extreme environments.

The module's fanless solution is also designed for ruggedized applications and serves to extend the life of these applications by reducing overheating problems.

With the industry's first quad core processor in an embedded system, the RMS420-5000XI quad core server offers increased processing power with the ability to combine multiple functions eliminating the need for numerous servers.

This top performing server also offers rigorous engineering change control ensuring product consistency and reduced costs for our customers.

"RadiSys continues to introduce industry-leading solutions that help system designers reduce time to market and raise the bar on performance and size," said Wade Clowes, vice president of the Commercial Market for RadiSys.

"With the only basic size module with dual channel memory as well as broadest operating temperature range available, and the most advanced embedded servers, designers continue to turn to RadiSys for products that address their needs today as well as provide a platform for the future".
