Advanced know-how ensures quality precious metals
Advanced conti-cast expertise, utilising a naturally oxygen-reducing graphite crucible and safe, low voltage resistance heating produces the very highest quality precious metals products.
Until recently, the company prepared its alloys by melting and pouring the metals into traditional static moulds, before extrusion of the sections.
In wishing to modernise its production facilities SAMCO approached Rautomead to provide continuous casting equipment for production of a range of brass and bronze alloys, both rods and hollow bars and also small diameter rods for brazing alloys.
In discussions with the customer, it was agreed that a model RT 650 machine should be supplied for brass and bronze production and a smaller model RMK 030 for the brazing alloys.
Both machines are horizontal continuous casters.
The two machines were assembled by Rautomead in Dundee and Iman Pakdamanian, a qualified metallurgist, spent two weeks in Dundee undergoing training in the use of the equipment, prior to shipment of the machines.
Rautomead continues to provide SAMCO with technical support in the operation of the two continuous casting machines in Iran, taking advantage of its vast database of technical information and continuous casting experience in copper-based materials, extending over twenty-five years.
