Continuous casting technology specialists, Rautomead, of Dundee, UK, will be presenting models from their innovative range of oxygen-free copper and copper alloy wire rod casting machines at the forthcoming Wire 2006 exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany As well as a wide variety of continuous casting solutions, embracing Rautomead's naturally oxygen-reducing graphite crucible and high intensity electric resistance heating, for the production of the highest quality 8mm diameter CuOF wire for smaller capacities, visitors to Stand 10 E 56 will also be able to find out about the company's new RDG Series machines

Developed in close collaboration with induction heating specialists, Induga of Germany, and offering impressively low operating costs, the new RDG models combine the advantages of graphite furnace technology in a single melting, holding and casting furnace, and have rated outputs of 10,000-12,000 tonnes-per-annum and 18,000-20,000 tonnes- per-annum - all without the need for hot metal transfer.

Producing the highest quality oxygen-free copper redraw rod (8.0mm-12.7mm diameter), RDG Series machines feature automatic cathode feed, a single channel-type induction furnace with separate melting and holding baths, multiple-strand casting stations, super-cooling design and withdrawal technology, plus five-tonne capacity rod coilers.
