Having added a large vertical turning centre and a large diameter grinding machine, Revolvo can now produce solid and split bearings up to 1.5m outside diameter in under 36 weeks.
Very large bearings - up to 1.5m outside diameter (OD) - can now be produced by UK manufacturer, Revolvo The company has acquired a new GER 1.5m CNC internal/external grinding machine and a new large CNC vertical turning centre

Split roller bearings safeguards against downtime
Revolvo's range of SRB split roller bearings provide safeguards against the costs of downtime in continuous production environments.
Supporting these impressive machine tools are new wire-EDM splitting machines.
Revolvo is now able to offer lead times of under 36 weeks for the delivery of large bearings.
"We could do even better were it not for the current supply problems with bearing grade steel forgings," said Adrian Menzies, Revolvo's sales and marketing director.

Special bearing service helps brewer
Revolvo's special bearing service came to the rescue recently, helping to safeguard nearly five generations of brewing excellence at Bathams, a renowned Black Country brewer in the West Midlands.
"However, we are addressing the lead-time issue with acquisitions such as the GER grinding machine and large CNC turning centre.
Representing an investment of over GBP 400,000, this enables us to grind both internal and external bearing diameters in a single set-up, reducing process cycle times substantially".
The GER machine incorporates the latest developments in electro-dynamic wheel balancing, in-process gauging and measurement systems.
Meeting the highest precision requirements, the GER ID/OD grinder allows substantially reduced set-up and cycle times.
Revolvo spent GBP 300,000 on a 1.8m CNC vertical turning centre, and a new wire erosion machine for the production of split bearing rings.
These latest investments follow a substantial 2006 investment programme that included the following.
* Four highly advanced CNC internal/external grinding machines, which offer resolution and accuracy of up to 0.25 micron.
* A new laser etching machine.
* A new Mitutoyo surface measurement system - purchased to further improve Revolvo's process capability.
"Investments of this type put us in the forefront of UK bearing manufacturing," said Menzies.
"And they are certainly paying off.
Our ability to radically reduce delivery times, especially for large diameter bearings means that we have gained a great deal of new business in this sector; some of it because the international bearing manufacturers simply cannot deliver large bearings with anywhere near the lead times that we can.
As evidence of this, in one recent example we were able to cut the 'best-case' 18 month delivery time quoted by a major bearing manufacturer for 960mm OD cylindrical roller bearings by more than 50%, and deliver the bearings in just eight months".
The rapid growth of Revolvo's business for both solid and split roller bearings has meant that the company has outgrown its existing premises in Dudley, and is soon to move to a larger site, which offers far more potential for future expansion.
* About Revolvo - a member of the Eriks Wyko Group of companies, Revolvo manufactures solid and SRB split roller bearings in sizes from 25mm bore to 1500mm external diameter, plus imperial equivalents.
In addition, the company also manufactures special custom designed and obsolete sizes of inch and metric solid ball and roller bearings.
All Revolvo bearings are produced to DIN PO/ABEC 1 standards, with up to P5 available on request. Request a free brochure from Revolvo ...
