Pull-down arm for CNC lathe tool setting

Renishaw introduces a lathe tool setting system with a unique precision pull-down arm, building upon its reputation as the supplier of market leading repeatable tool setting arms

Renishaw introduces a lathe tool setting system with a unique precision pull-down arm, building upon its reputation as the supplier of market leading repeatable tool setting arms, such as the recently introduced precision removable arm (HPRA) The new HPPA (high precision pull-down arm) is a simple manually operated 'pull-down, push-up' system, which is permanently located within the turning centre, and readily available for tool setting operations

Like all Renishaw tool setting arms, the HPPA offers high levels of repeatability.

An innovative patented rotary device automatically locks the arm into a kinematic location, with no additional adjustment or locking device required.

This enables the probe's stylus to be re-located to within 5æm.

When not in use, the HPPA is swung up above the chuck, using minimal machine space when stowed.

A high level of system repeatability ensures consistent trigger points when the tool contacts the probe's stylus located at the end of the HPPA, and reduces the need for trial cuts by the operator.

In situations where a tool needs replacement through wear or breakage, datuming the new tool with a repeatable arm further reduces operator intervention.

The HPPA's standard range covers chuck sizes from 6" to 15" with custom product offerings up to 24".

Standard tooling sizes of 20, 25 and 32mm are accommodated and special variants ensure a full range from 16 to 50mm.

The HPPA incorporates the precision RP3 probe and TSI2 interface.

The compact and robust RP3 allows the fitting of a wide range of probe styli, enabling tool setting on "Y" axis machines, and full 360ø probing in the X-Z plane.

A bi-colour LED located on the probe holder, gives machine operators continuous feedback on system status.

Integration of the TSI2 with a DIN rail mount and standard 'D' connector offers the ease of assembly required for a simple connection to the machine control.

The HPPA system can be used with standard tool setting inputs on CNC controls, macro software with high-speed, single-touch probing routines, or double-touch routines for controllers without high-speed-skip option. Request a free brochure from Renishaw ...
