Modules extend scope of stylus-changing
CMM probe

Superior throughput and flexibility are principal reasons for the rapid establishment of Renishaw's TP20 touch-trigger probe system in place of the industry standard TP2 probe.

Superior throughput and flexibility are principal reasons for the rapid establishment of Renishaw's TP20 touch-trigger probe system in place of the industry standard TP2 probe, which it supercedes These advantages are now further enhanced by the launch of a range of new modules, which offer lower-force probing, probe length extensions and six-way sensing to complement the existing stylus changing capably of this system

Significantly increasing the capability of manual or DCC CMMs, the TP20 is a two-part design, consisting of a probe body and a range of detachable probe modules - each of which contains kinematic touch sensor and carries the stylus.

The magnetically attached, removable modules facilitate manual or automatic probe changing without re-qualification.

This modular design minimises the likelihood of damage due to probe crashes, and the cost of replacement or spares holding is also reduced.

With the TP20, CMM functionality is now enhanced via the choice of four different trigger force capabilities: the new low force module (0.055N at 10mm), plus existing standard, medium and extended force modules.

A new six-way module provides additional sensing in the -Z direction, allowing accurate gauging of undercuts and grooves.

Two new extension modules, available in 50mm and 75mm sizes, increase probe reach for part feature inspection in restricted-access areas.

These provide improved and cost-effective metrology performance compared with equivalent-length styli, and re-qualification when changing extension modules is also necessary.

For automatic operation, the optional MCR20 Module Changing Rack holds up to six pre-qualified probe modules, and multiple racks can be used.

The MCR20 rack uses a passive magnetic system to automatically inhibit probe triggers during a change, eliminating the need for special cabling or software to execute automatic stylus changes.

The TP20 probe system now offers the widest available selection of modular flexibility, and is compatible in form, fit and function, with any manual or DCC CMM already using Renishaw TP2 probe. Request a free brochure from Renishaw ...
