Motorised probe head ups CMM performance

To further enhance probe system performance on CMMs, Renishaw has introduced PH10T, a motorised probe head for automated machines, offering users fast, automated inspection.

To further enhance probe system performance on co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs), Renishaw has introduced PH10T, a motorised probe head for automated machines, offering users fast, automated inspection Probe sensors can be oriented in 720 positions with a repeatability of 0.5 micron, enabling the inspection of components without the need for time-consuming requalification between orientations

The PH10T probe head is a replacement for Renishaw's industry standard PH9 indexing head, with updated technology and improved torque capability.

Operating with two axes of movement, the PH10T enhances CMM performance by giving a 3-axis machine a 5-axis capability.

Compatible with all M8 thread probes, including the TP20 stylus module changing system and high accuracy TP200 stylus changing probe, the PH10T is able to orientate the probe sensor to 720 positions in angular increments of 7.5deg.

This allows access to all features to be measured, and optimises system performance by ensuring the probe is applied to the surface at the best angle to achieve accurate measurements.

The extra torque within the PH10T, up to a recommended maximum of 0.45Nm, allows the head to carry long extension bars, including the new 300mm length PEL4, giving access to normally inaccessible workpiece features.

The new PH10T automated probe head is especially appropriate for volume manufacture, where there are significant cost and time benefits from automating repetitive inspection routines.

PH10T is the latest addition to Renishaw's PH10 family of motorised probe heads, all designed to maximise inspection capabilities on automated CMMs.

The PH10M series allows the use of complex 'multi-wired' probes, such as the high accuracy TP7M, video and scanning probes, and the exchange of different probe sensors without the need for re-qualification. Request a free brochure from Renishaw ...
