Renishaw will demonstrate its Renscan5 5-axis coordinate measuring machine (CMM) measurement technology, which includes the award-winning REVO measuring head, at the TCT exhibition.

Visitors will be able to discuss the operation and applications for the system, which can improve inspection throughput levels by up to 900 per cent on CMM's previous three-axis scanning systems, while also saving hours of calibration times compared with conventional indexing head systems.

The TCT 2008 exhibition takes place at the Ricoh Stadium, Coventry, 21-22 October.

A large aerospace company that uses the REVO five-axis has seen inspection time of airfoils fall dramatically from 16 to five hours.

Almost as dramatic were the results obtained for an automotive cylinder head application, where the inspection of twelve valve seats and twelve guide bores was reduced from 29m 13s to 3m 42s.

The REVO system won the 'Best Quality Control Product or System' category at the MWP Awards in April.
