Fine cutting of small diameter tubes
accelerated

Using a higher speed rotary axis on a laser tube cutting machine provides even greater throughput in the fine cutting of medical devices from tube.

The StarCut Tube from Rofin-Baasel UK now has higher speed axes for even greater throughput in the fine cutting of medical devices from tube The high speed of the rotary axis allows faster processing of very small diameter tubes (down to 0.3mm OD)

Using the StarCut 18 pulsed Nd:YAG laser source it is possible to cut with a kerf width of less than 20 microns in stainless steel with a wall thickness of 100 microns.

High speed axes offer high acceleration and deceleration coupled with state of the art precision.

Contour accuracy falls within 5 microns of the programmed path, enabling the intricate laser cutting of stents which are used in minimally invasive surgery.

Excellent beam quality allows a longer focal length lens to be used which minimises taper in the cut.

Using the StarCut Tube in production requires minimum operator intervention as the laser cutting machine can run for several hours un-attended.

Tube is fed from the rear of the machine (which has the most compact footprint available), and components fall into a collection basket after cutting.

Whether cutting stainless steel, platinum, titanium or nitinol (a shape memory alloy) the cutting process is dry and no damage of the backwall of the tube is experienced.

Different diameters can be cut with a very quick and easy change-over procedure and the system can handle tubes as large as 10mm OD. Request a free brochure from Rofin-Baasel UK ...
