Yb: YAG disc laser design has high
efficiency

A new design of 3kW diode-pumped Yb: YAG disc laser is characterised by high total efficiency and excellent beam quality and surpasses its predecessor in terms of maintenance.

In the field of solid-state laser technology, Rofin introduces a diode-pumped Yb: YAG disc laser of a completely new design: the Rofin DS 030 HQ This new 3kW model is characterised by high total efficiency and excellent beam quality

It surpasses its predecessor especially in terms of maintenance and operation, and it features optimised stack management.

The laser generates its output power from two discs of 1,500W each, without loss of beam quality.

This represents a threefold increase in power per pump chamber as compared to lamp-pumped rod systems, while simultaneously enhancing the beam quality.

As a result, the beam of the disc laser may be coupled into a 200 micron fibre.

In the case of DS 030 HQ and single-disc lasers with 1,500W output power, the beam can be transmitted over long distances via optical fibres, making these lasers a highly flexible tool for a wide range of applications.

The DS-HQ series is the first product series of the Rofin Macro group to feature the new RCU control concept.

Rofin have developed a new all-in-one control concept which may be used for the majority of products offered by all three groups within Rofin.

The new Rofin control unit (RCU) is a real time laser and handling control device with an IEC61131-compatible software-PLC. Request a free brochure from Rofin-Baasel UK ...
