Rofin-Sinar Technologies a manufacturer of high performance laser beam sources and laser-based solutions, has acquired a 40% stake of H2B Photonics in Germany.

Rofin-Sinar Technologies, one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of high- performance laser beam sources and laser-based solutions, has announced that it has acquired a 40% stake of H2B Photonics , Garbsen, Germany Further terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed

H2B Photonics specialise in the development, manufacturing and sales of laser-based systems used to cut brittle materials, such as glass, to produce perfectly cut edges.

The Company holds the worldwide licence rights on the MLBA (Multiple Laser Beam Absorption) process.

The systems are primarily used for displays like plasma screens, windows, automotive parts and hollowware.

The Company was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from LZH, the laser institute of Hanover, Germany.

H2B Photonics will continue as an independent company within the Rofin Group with its founders, Michael Haase, Oliver Haupt and Carsten Busching, remaining as managing directors, holding the other 60% of the Company's shares.

With operational headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan, USA, and Hamburg, Germany, Rofin-Sinar Technologies designs, develops, engineers and manufactures laser sources and laser- based system solutions for a wide range of applications.

With production facilities in the US, Germany, UK, Sweden, Singapore and Japan, Rofin-Sinar is one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of industrial lasers and currently has more than 22,000 laser units installed worldwide and serves more than 3,000 customers.
