High beam quality pulsed YAG profiles finely
In medical device manufacture, pulsed Nd:YAG lasers now can do the work of profiling increasingly finer, structures.
These have power levels ranging from 40W to 400W using 400 micron NA0.2 fibres and from 25W to 100W using 200 micron NA0.22 fibres.
The Compact Series systems can laser weld polymers, laser harden fine features and sharp edges or laser solder electronic components.
The Compact Series turnkey system comprises of a number of individual elements which can be selected and housed within a 19in rack mountable chassis.
These elements include the following.
* Laser source.
* Water cooler if appropriate.
* Optional pyrometers.
* Remote diagnostic units.
* Metal armoured fibre cables.
* Imaging optics with protection glass.
This configuration coupled with the fibre technology provides a simple and flexible solution for OEM integrators and machine builders, said Rofin.
For power levels up to 100W the system uses SMA-fibres and is based on air cooling and for higher power levels, the system uses high power QBH-fibres and this part of the range is water cooled.
The system is available in wavelengths of 980nm or 808nm as standard, however other wavelengths are available as options upon request.
This range of diode laser wavelengths can be used in the laser welding of polymers as there are specific absorbers designed to react to 980 and 808nm.
A series of processing heads, which also offer camera and pyrometer options, will enable closed loop operation of the system in pre-defined temperature ranges between 150 and 700 deg C.
The use of a pyrometer is particularly useful in controlling the heat input of plastics welding processes and laser transformation hardening temperatures.
To increase the field of operation, the laser the system can also be provided with an optional galvo-scanner head and PC controlling software.
The Compact Series offers a wide range of power options making the system ideal for a broad range of material processing applications.
Rofin said it offers the most complete range of laser systems including CO2, YAG, Vanadate and Fibre Lasers.
Rofin also provides solutions for laser cutting, welding and marking applications. Request a free brochure from Rofin-Baasel UK ...
