Small drills machine hard tool steels
Small hole drilling problems need no longer occur, exampled by using one micro carbide drill to produce 20-off 0.25mm holes to a 3mm depth in 54HRC tool steel, normally an EDM job.
This exciting new range of drills is available in 0.01mm increments between 0.1 to 2mm diameters with drills from 2 to 3mm being available in 0.05mm increments.
Ideal for micro machining, toolmaking and medical applications, all drills are produced from super micro grain carbide that is TiCN coated up to 2mm diameter with drills above this being TiAlN coated.
These extremely tough substrates guarantee a long tool life for this series of drills, particularly when drilling hard materials.
The drills have a 3mm reinforced shank that when combined with the coated carbide demonstrate a high level of rigidity and stability, which is a pre-requisite for small diameter drills.
The drills have successfully proven their ability to machine materials up to a hardness level of 53HRC.
Hardened steels and exotic alloys have successfully been drilled with extremely concentric and accurately sized holes.
This is credit to the hardness and stability of the small drills as well as the innovative 150 drill point.
This 150 drill point virtually eliminates burring on through hole applications, reducing the need for secondary operations.
Rainford Precision has an extensive stock level that holds almost all drill diameters.
To accompany this range of drills, Rainford Precision also stocks a range of small diameter centre drills.
The centre drills are available in 0.5, 0.8, 1 and 1.25mm diameter pilots with 3.15mm bodies.
To accommodate the larger drills in the range, centre drills with 1.6 and 2mm diameter pilots are available with 4 and 5mm bodies respectively.
