Low-Cost Socket Tester Indicates all Wiring Faults
Robin, market leader in the UK of test and measurement equipment for electrical contractors, has introduced a low-cost model in its series of mains socket testers.
The Robin KTS 1620 Digital Multifunction Tester carries out the five tests of continuity, insulation, loop impedance, RCDs and prospective short circuits (PSCs).
It offers a triple voltage insulation test at 250V, 500V and 1000V; direct measurement of three prospective short circuit currents, from 200A to 20kVA; test signal polarity switching during continuity and insulation tests; and continuity auto-null to automatically subtract test lead resistance from continuity measurements.
To provide more accurate readings when loop testing RCDs, either half-cycle of voltage can be chosen.
This also helps to prevent tripping of some polarised RCDs.
Other features include a live circuit warning, colour coded LEDs that indicate correct circuit wiring, and detection and prevention of internal overheating.
Other useful features include automatic discharging of capacitive circuits on release of the test button, _'auto data hold' which displays the reading for a time after the test is complete, and _'auto power off' after a period of non-use.
The KTS 1620 is housed in a durable, moulded carrying case and the full kit comes complete with SL20 Snap-Lok test leads, SL16E Snap-Lok distribution board test leads, an SLP5 External earth probe, and a KAMP10 moulded plug test lead, all in a durable storage carrying case and accessory pouch.
