A wide variety of spindle heads, tool magazines and pallet handling systems can be chosen from to form highly efficient and flexible machining cells with much reduced work pallet changing times.

The Mandelli Spark range (that goes alongside the Thunder, Storm and Rock models) has been designed to fulfil end users needs with an eye on future developments In brief, Riello can say that with one product range we offer a number of different configurations to suit the innumerable needs of the diverse application sectors: machining is carried out on material as light alloys (with suitable speed and accelerations) as well as on harder material (with the appropriate power and torque) with 4- and 5-axis solutions

The whole range is characterised by the remarkable modularity of the configurations, which gives us the possibility of using a wide variety of spindle heads, tool magazines and pallet handling systems.

An outstanding feature of the new production range is the maximum overall reliability achieved by improving the following.

* The technical efficiency of the production system by employing tested quality components.

* Production process reliability with a new range of innovative spindle heads, thermo-symmetric structures and minimum use of mobile masses, which allow for improved allowances and surface finishing operations, thanks to the better dynamics, vibration damping, reduced generated head and geometric performances not influenced by environmental changes.

* Particular attention has been given to reducing idle times, by increasing rapid traverses and accelerations and by reducing tool and pallet changing times as well as by optimising the mobile masses and using roller guide-ways for the linear axes.

The newly designed tool changer and pallet changer drives are at the top of the range on the market.

The detailed study carried out on product ergonomics has focused on accessibility and visibility: machine guarding is very simple and besides allowing easy access and inspection to the work area, the noise level is cut down and the mist and dust purifiers are located in easily reachable positions.

The model show at the recent Italian Bi-Mu machine tool show, Spark 1300 X, is designed for installation without foundations, on only three locations points due to its self-supporting and monolithic base and employed for machining five inclined faces (with a 2 deg angular indexing head ) of components with a length of up to 1300mm.

and a weight of up to 1500kg.

In terms of environmental impact (meaning that machinery can easily be installed in end users workshops and that it is eco-compatible with the current standards) the systems have been designed according to the 'plug and play' philosophy, without the need to carry out foundation work and with less floor space required (approximately 15% less than occupied with the same work dimensions).
