The range of general-purpose circular sawing machines manufactured by the Italian company, FOM, has been extended by the addition of the Spring 55, a cut-off machine with a horizontally acting blade intended for light alloys and plastic materials Available through UK agent, Rivers Machinery, there are three versions - a fixed head model; and two mitering machines with a head which tilts by up to +/-20 degrees, one electronically and the other electropneumatically controlled

Turning and parting-off heavy tube and pipe
A new range of large capacity, CNC turning and part-off equipment for tube up to 8in diameter has been introduced to the UK by Rivers Machinery under a sole agency agreement.
Diameter of the tungsten carbide tipped saw blade is 550 mm, larger than on previous models in the range.
It is driven by a three-phase, 3 HP motor at a constant 2,800 rpm.
Pure oil blade lubrication is provided on the electronically controlled model (which also has a piece counting facility) whilst spray mist lubrication is standard on the others.
An air hose is standard; chip collection and smoke extraction equipment can be supplied on request.
Capacity when cutting at 90 degrees on all models is, for example, 250 mm by 190 mm.
Mitering at 45 degrees on the tilting head machines allows stock of, say, 200 mm by 170 mm to be sawn whilst at 20 degrees, 120 mm square capacity would be typical.
All dimensions are proportionately larger in X if smaller in Y and vice versa.
FOM machines extend from manual pull-down and up-stroking saws through semi-automatic versions to fully-automatic cut-off machines for cut lengths up to 600mm, with the option of single or double mitering.
