Turning and parting-off heavy tube and pipe
A new range of large capacity, CNC turning and part-off equipment for tube up to 8in diameter has been introduced to the UK by Rivers Machinery under a sole agency agreement.
It extends from the pneumatic Caddy 28F, capable of applying cutting pressure up to 32 kN to cut 32 mm round section bar, to the Caddy 160 offering 10,000 kN pressure to cut up to 160 mm diameter round or square bar.
The machines, which are of straightforward, robust design, benefit from high quality construction and need no special foundations.
A rigid steel frame with bronze guides supports the slide throughout the cutting stroke; and blade gap adjustment is by a screw and wedge system which needs no shims.
Shearing quality is ensured by high impact speed, while square-cut faces are guaranteed by simple, angular adjustment of the shear blades that compensates for the shearing angle, even when cutting mild steel.
Whereas the Caddy 28F and Caddy 50 have a pneumatic clutch and brake system, that fitted to the other five machines in the range is of the Ortlinghaus hydraulic type.
This offers fast, reliable operation and improved productivity.
For long runs, productivity is enhanced by the 'continuous shearing' attachment; up to 105 cuts/minute may be programmed on the Caddy 28F and up to 32 cuts/minute are available on the Caddy 160.
All machines are supplied with a fully automatic, powered V-table featuring pinch-roller bar feed.
The standard system accommodates bar bundles up to 6 metres long but a 12-metre option can also be supplied.
Measured sheared length can be set in the range 0 to 500 mm from the machine's integrated control panel.
Options are available to extend the cut-off length to 1,000 mm.
