Inclination of the head is effected either pneumatically or electronically according to the machine selected.
The heads on some models may be swivelled by up to 70 degrees outwards, whilst other saws have heads with the additional capability to incline at 45 degrees inwards.
The left hand head is fixed and the other is positioned manually or automatically over a 4, 5 or 6 metre bed to within +/- 0.1 mm.
Each blade is driven directly at 2,800 rpm by a 2.2 kW, 3-phase motor.
The adjustable infeed is hydro-pneumatically controlled and there is a quick return feature to maximise productivity.
As the machines are often expected to work continuously for long periods, they have a centralised lubrication system and are designed for easy fitment of optional chip and smoke extraction equipment.
Some models have fully enclosed guarding for enhanced safety and to improve the working environment.
Three levels of control are available throughout the range, the cabinet moving longitudinally with the right hand head for ease of use.
One is an NC unit with a black and white graphic display into which up to six variables including cut length, angle of cut and batch size may be typed to define the next program.
Section height and extruded section tolerance are monitored.
A more advanced control includes a floppy disc drive for data transfer and software for cut optimisation and manufacturing certain standard types of door frame.
Top of the range is an industrial PC running Windows, with a colour LCD screen and facility to connect with a host computer via a DNC (direct numerical control) Ethernet link.
