High speed M-C cuts light alloys and plastics
The new Prestige machining centre for complex machining tasks in light alloys and plastics, manufactured by the Italian company, FOM Industrie, has been introduced to the UK.
The saw can be incorporated into the output side of virtually any mill and can achieve linear operating speeds up to 190m/min when cutting non ferrous or carbon steel tube and profiles at 6m cut-off lengths.
This is performed in real time as the product emerges from the mill.
A notable feature of the Oto flying saw is its ability to control the length tolerance on a six metre cut to within +/-2mm when operating at maximum mill speed.
The machine uses a high speed steel circular saw blade of 315mm diameter driven by an 8kW motor.
Flying saw carriage drive motor is a powerful 41kW DC to achieve the line speed.
Acceleration of the carriage is synchronised with all parameters of the mill operation.
PLC control system is S5-115U with a digital microprocessor for carriage control.
