High speed circular saws designed for
high output
Two new, high speed, circular sawing machines are aimed at manufacturers requiring high volumes of billets cut to length, weight or volume.
Two new, high speed, circular sawing machines, called KASTOspeed C9 and M9, have been introduced by KASTO, Germany Available through UK subsidiary, Rivers Machinery, Southampton, they are aimed at manufacturers, subcontract machinists and stockholders supplying the automotive industry, as well as forges and other companies requiring high volumes of billets cut to length, weight or volume

A new range of large capacity, CNC turning and part-off equipment for tube up to 8in diameter has been introduced to the UK by Rivers Machinery under a sole agency agreement.
The centrally located operator panel requires only a few keystrokes to enter the data necessary to fulfill an order.
It contains knowledge of the optimum parameters for cutting various commonly used materials, while information on sawing new metals can be input by the user.
In addition to storing the blade speed and feed rate for a particular job, the operator panel can be fed with additional data to minimise idle time during the cutting cycle and so maximise productivity.

Ergonomic design with easy access to the working area allows rapid changeover and contributes further to maximising productivity.
So too does the option of centralised, quick set-up and adjustment of the in-feed magazine.
There are two versions of the saw, depending on whether ferrous or non-ferrous metals are being cut.
For high alloy steels up to 1,400N/mm2 tensile strength, disposable carbide blades of 250, 285 or 315mm diameter are used on the KASTOspeed C9.
A patent-pending saw blade guide allows rapid adjustment to a new blade size.
The 7.5kW, drive motor is capable of infinitely variable speeds from 20 to 225m/min.
For non-ferrous metals, a high speed steel, tungsten carbide tipped, or solid carbide blade on a KASTOspeed M9 is more suitable.
Different cutting speed ranges of the frequency-controlled motor (up to 24 kW), selectable from the control panel, allow efficient cutting of such materials as aluminium, brass and copper, To achieve quiet operation, the machine frame is filled with polymer concrete which dampens vibrations.
In addition, there is the option of moving the blade away from the material by about half a millimetre during blade retraction to avoid contact with the bar and so prevent scratching of the cut surface.
Consistent with large volume production, care has been taken with swarf management to ensure smooth flow of chips from the point of cutting to the conveyor, or to a suction device in the case of the M9 version to cope with the potential for larger volumes of aluminium swarf.
Material handling configurations on both the in-feed and output sides are many, taken from the manufacturer's extensive range of proven magazines, bundle loaders, conveyors and sorting devices.
An automated storage and retrieval system, robotic removal and stacking of cut pieces, and other peripheral equipment may be fitted.
