Although numbers were down compared with the last open house at Kasto UK, the 2006 event generated serious enquiries for over GBP 600,000 of equipment sales.

Although numbers were down compared with the last open house at KASTO UK's Southampton showroom, the 2006 event held during September generated serious enquiries for over GBP 600,000 of equipment sales Ernst Wagner, managing director, said that interest was shown by both stockholders and manufacturers in its parent company's sawing machines and storage systems, and also in machining centre products intended for processing aluminium marketed under a sole agency agreement with the Italian machine tool builder, FOM Industrie

The show marked the launch in the UK of a new Kasto computer-controlled storage system, called Unitower C.

Designed to stock a combination sheet, long stock, pallets and boxes, it is a low-cost, modular solution to maximising the amount of material that companies are able to store within a 1.5m by 3m 'footprint'.

Wagner further commented that storage systems are becoming more popular these days with the ever-increasing price of industrial building space.

There are also efficiency as well as health and safety drawbacks associated with storing parts on the floor and manually handling them.

Announced also at the show was the appointment of Jason Chodynicki as sales manager.
