Vision guided robotic system shortens cycle times

A RNA Automation product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 18, 2008

An automatic vision guided robotic system for flexible feeding is equipped with continuous feeding from a conveyor that tracks components enabling very short cycle times.

RNA Automation will be showing its latest SVIA MiniFlex at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition.

The SVIA MiniFlex is an automatic vision guided robotic system for flexible feeding.

It is equipped with continuous feeding from a conveyor that tracks components enabling very short cycle times.

The flexible MiniFlex system is for handling multiple components through the use of vision guided robotics.

With SVIA's 'PickVision', it is possible for the system to handle different types of components.

Parts with various geometries, can be fed in any random orientation to the MiniFlex and be picked and placed without any mechanical changes to the machine, resulting in quick changeover times.

The MiniFlex is designed to replace manual feeding and other types of feeding equipment.

The equipment is compact and built on a single base plate.

The machine on show will be the MiniFlex.

RNA Automation told manufacturingtalk.com that it suits all industries: especially repetitive machining, automotive, and OEM equipment builders.

It offers the following features.

* Short lead times, short payback periods, and 'future proof'.

* Compact standard design.

* Very easy to install and has a short commissioning time.

* Switching between products and batch runs is software controlled and very fast, with no mechanical adjustments.

MiniFlex is available in the following variants.

* Mini - standard machine equipped with robot ABB IRB-140.

* Mini-T - 'Turbo', MiniFlex equipped with robot ABB IRB-140T and is capable of a shorter cycle time.

* Mini-2 - MiniFlex with a twin in feed system, making it possible to pick two different parts with one robot.

MiniFlex can also be equipped with other robots from the ABB product range.

In this case the robot will be mounted on a separate mount beside the MiniFlex.

* RNA Automation at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, April 21-25, Hall 4, Stand 4896.
