Different font sizes, character style, and the option of tri-colour or red LEDs provide messaging flexibility; scrolling and flashing effects can be used to enhance messages and add visual appeal.
Changes in colour can be used to indicate changes in production status.
For example, a green message may indicate that the production goal is being met, while a yellow message may warn that parts are low and a red message may signal a more serious problem, such as a fault condition.

Diagnosis and maintenance of machine tools
Rockwell Automation has introduced the QC10 ballbar which gives maintenance technicians a tool for assessing the dynamic motion and positioning precision of machine tools and production machinery.
InView is available in three formats, to display from one to four lines of text and characters ranging from 38mm to 180mm in height.
A maximum of 40 characters are visible with longer messages being scrolled across the display.
This enables concise information to be seen clearly from virtually anywhere on a factory floor.
"Until recently, large format displays have been limited to large bingo style or character-matrix based formats, making them an unattractive solution for users needing a flexible, scalable, yet cost-effective solution," said Paul Herron, product manager, Rockwell Automation.
"The common software and hardware platform incorporated into the InView product line make the displays easy to use and to customise, while the long-lasting LED technology contributes to a low total cost of ownership." Messages are developed using the easy to use 'InView' messaging software.
This WindowsTM based software allows messages to be stored within the display and triggered from a host device.
The InView range can communicate with a PLC or any host that supports the use of ActiveX controls, such as Rockwell Software RSView32.
Point-to-point or networked communications are possible with the use of a standard RS-232, RS-485 multi-drop, or Ethernet network configurations.
Future options will include a DeviceNet network interface.
In short, the message displays can be easily integrated into a plant's existing or new control network.
InView displays are versatile and attractive, they provide a cost effective way to display important information in an industrial environment.
They can be easily linked into existing systems to provide a fast and effective information system. Request a free brochure from Rockwell Automation Anorad ...
