Low cost slave interface connects servo
drives
A new, low cost, slave interface brings all the benefits of DeviceNet connectivity to a lightning fast, servo drive allowing the connection of devices together in a system.
High speed motion controller now benefits from DeviceNet connectivity Rockwell Automation introduces the new, low cost, Allen-Bradley Ultra5000 DeviceNet slave interface, which brings all the benefits of DeviceNet connectivity to the lightning fast, Ultra5000 servo drive Whether bought with a new drive or retrofitted to an existing unit, it offers the freedom to connect devices together in a system, gather process information and monitor machines remotely

The Ultra5000 combines the controller and drive in a single unit, removing the need for communications between them and allowing extremely high processing power and speed.
Instead of the more usual 1000 instructions per second, speeds of up to 5 million per second are possible, because the pre-configured programming language is downloaded as executable code.
The Ultra5000 is ideal for cost-sensitive, advanced motion applications, such as high-speed labellers, rotary knives, flying shears and feed-to-length systems.
It integrates a high-speed digital signal processor (DSP), a flexible ANSI C programming package and on-board I/O and communication capabilities.
Ultraware software provides the configuration and programming tools, including a full colour, syntax C editor in an intuitive, object-based environment for motion, logic and project organisation.
There is an easy to use library function to create compact, versatile motion programmes and acquire axis information for use in the application logic.
Users can integrate pre-assembled motion functions into their application program or write custom algorithms to tailor the application to their individual needs.
Now with its DeviceNet communication interface, it is easy to seamlessly integrate with other network-enabled control systems, download recipes and provide status information on the application.
Ultra 5000 also has the ability to plug into an encoder, allowing it to follow the speed of a conveyor, for example, and the built-in digital rotating reference frame current regulator ensures optimal motor performance at all times.
All members of the Ultra family are CE compliant and UL rated and this, together with Rockwell Automation's ability to provide local support anywhere in the world, make them the perfect choice for OEMs that are active in international/export markets.
