Easy to set up and program, it is perfect for first time users.

Rockwell Automation may be better known in the motion control field for its elegant solutions to multi-axis applications using Kinetix and SERCOS, but it also has an excellent range of simple, stand-alone servo motors and drives.

The new Ultra 1500 is the latest and smallest of just such a range to be introduced.

The smallest drive has a sector leading footprint of only 55mm by 153mm and the automatic plug and play capability of the motor and drive plus the automatic configuration wizard make installation simple, even for beginners or migrants from DC or pneumatics.

First time users should be up and running within an hour, straight from the box.

Multi-turn encoder feedback gives very accurate positioning across all of its speed range, making it ideal as a low-cost, compact, stand-alone servo drive/motor combination for point by point measurement systems to accurate high speed positioning pick and place applications.

The drive has a velocity response performance of 550Hz and a control range of 1:5000 rev/min.

A speed observer reduces ripple at low speeds, mechanical vibration is suppressed by an algorithm and stopping time is much reduced by the use of dynamic braking.

Enhanced features include Custom Motor Configuration capability and auxiliary encoder feedback.

The Ultraware software provides a complete setup and programming environment with Ultra 1500 setup wizards, powerful commissioning tools, a comprehensive array of diagnostics and a file management system to help organise multiple configuration files.

The Ultra 1500 series is ideally suited to use with the Rockwell Automation TL-Series motors that feature high resolution feedback with over 100,000 counts per turn, a superior torque to size ratio, maximum power in a small package, IP65 (optional) protection and multi-turn absolute encoder capability.
