Variable area flowmeters replace sight
glasses
With no power required, variable area flowmeters can be used to replace sight glasses and glass tube meter systems, providing improved operator protection and security.
The Platon GMT variable area flowmeters from Roxspur Measurement and Control are robust metal bodied flowmeters for use on industrial and petrochemical plant Available for measuring and monitoring liquid or gas flows, the large meter indication requires no power, and is easily visible at a distance, with the pointer moving over a 150 deg scale

Variable area flowmeters have many options
Variable area flowmeters use standard glass flowtubes, while frame options are available with stainless steel connections and 'Viton' seals, or nickel plated brass connections and nitrile seals.
Diaphragm pumps move corrosive chemicals
Air operated double-diaphragm pumps claimed to be are the best air driven pumps for hot, corrosive or abrasive liquids: the hardest of industrial pumping applications.
Specialised temperature sensors developed
Specialised sensor designs have been developed for glass and ceramic manufacture, heat treatment and moulding control, food processing and brewing as well as standard units.
Each scale is produced specifically for the fluid measured and the process conditions in the line.

The meter flow indication is driven by magnetic interaction with the internally guided float, which rises up the tapered flow tube with increasing flow.
There are no mechanical seals or glands to leak, the meter body is constructed from a solid metal tube, typically of stainless steel.
Liquid flowmeters are available in a flanged totally welded stainless steel construction, in line sizes from 0.5in to 4in (15mm - 100mm).
Flanges can be DIN, ANSI or to any other recognized standard.
Flanged gas flowmeters are available for line sizes of 0.5in to 2in (15-50mm), and are fitted with an integral pulsation dampener, to stabilize the meter indication and smooth out any flow pulsations.
For a simpler and more economical site installation, the Platon GMT is available in brass or stainless steel bodied versions with BSP or NPT female screwed connections, in line sizes from 0.5in to 2in.
This is a particularly useful approach for units operating at high pressures.
Screwed metal tube meters are frequently used as replacements for large glass tube flowmeters or other flow indicators, where the fluids are opaque or dark coloured: the metal construction provides improved operator security when monitoring dangerous or toxic materials.
Optional flow alarm outputs (intrinsically safe) are available on the GMT to provide high and low flow alarms at adjustable set points, and an intrinsically safe 4-20mA flow transmitter (the Platon GMTX Vampire) is also available.
Special units are manufactured for oxygen service, and with minimum pressure drop for low pressure gas flow indication.
Meters can also be provided in alternative materials, such as Hastelloy and Monel.
