The launch of New Covent Garden Food Company's range of microwaveable risottos underlines the capability of RPC Containers Blackburn's Thor pot.

The launch of New Covent Garden Food Company's range of microwaveable risottos underlines the capability of RPC Containers Blackburn's Thor pot to bring convenience and a strong brand identity to a number of the company's products That is the claim of RPC as the new risotto range joins New Covent Garden's pasta sauces and fresh porridges in being packaged in the Thor Pot

Injection-moulded in contact clear PP, the pack provides clarity and strength, whilst the resealable lid incorporates a tamper-evident tab for product security.

It is fully microwaveable and is also suitable for home freezing, said RPC.

To reinforce its brand identity, New Covent Garden asked RPC Blackburn to colour-match the lid to its familiar green livery.

RPC worked closely to achieve an exact match to the Pantone colour used across the company.

The 500g risottos, packed in a 550ml Thor Pot, are designed to provide a substantial meal for two, in three varieties - 'Slow Roasted Tomato and Herb'; Chorizo Sausage and Chicken' and 'Wild Mushroom and Parmesan'.

New Covent Garden first specified the use of a 365ml Thor Pot in 2005 for its pasta sauce range, comprising 'Plum Tomato and Mascarpone', 'Tomato, Red Pepper and Chilli', 'Smoked Mozzarella and Bacon Carbonara' flavours, as well as a seasonal variant.

Following the success of the range, a 315ml size was selected for the single-serve fresh porridges.

Flavours include Original, Honey, Maple Syrup and Citrus.

All of the containers are sleeved at RPC Blackburn.

The pasta sauce and risotto ranges feature full body labels with a varnish effect that gives an appealing texture to the label.

The fresh porridge range uses a special fluted sleeve, manufactured by Blackburn Corrugated Paper, which provides insulation so that consumers can eat straight from the container.

"Good packaging needs to deliver both user convenience and a distinctive appearance," commented Nigel Parrott, New Covent Garden Food's marketing director.

"RPC Blackburn has proved an excellent partner in meeting our functional requirements, and in ensuring a cohesive and stylish corporate image across all three ranges.".
