RPC Bebo UK Bristol is launching a new range of convenience food packs manufactured from biodegradable PLA.

RPC Bebo UK Bristol is launching a new range of convenience food packs manufactured from biodegradable PLA.

Available in four sizes - 375ml, 650ml (single and twin compartment versions) and 1500ml - the packs incorporate a positive stacking feature, with a recess in the lid that allows a second pack of the same size to sit snugly on top to maximise shelf space, said the company.

The new range has been created for a variety of convenience products including leaf salads, pasta salads, fresh fruit, snacks and other delicatessen products.

The packs, which can also be specified in APET, join RPC Bebo UK Bristol's existing ranges of convenience food packaging, which are available in a variety of materials and designs to offer customers what RPC claimed to be one of the most comprehensive choices to meet all types of products and requirements.

PLA offers a family of polymers derived from annually renewable resources with the cost and performance to compete with petroleum-based packaging materials and fibres, added the company.

RPC Bebo UK Bristol's sales and marketing manager, Gaynor Billard, explained: "The introduction of the PLA packs is an important addition to our product range.

It allows food suppliers to use packs with a more positive environmental profile that still provide the high levels of quality and performance required in this competitive market.
