RPC Containers Blackburn (UK) has produced a new white two-litre spirit bottle in PET for Kalon, to provide increased child-resistance, barrier properties and clarity.
Custom Bottle
A custom-moulded bottle from RPC Containers Raunds is bringing convenient pouring and stylish appearance to a specialist range of automotive fuel additives from Fortron.
Reveal was devised after RPC Beaute Thornaby undertook a value engineering project for a major customer to determine the key criteria for effective lipstick packaging.
Product Designer Jon Richmond developed the new mechanism design with a view to optimising these criteria, which included convenience, supply chain and branding considerations.
The primary innovation is a mechanism for delivering the lipstick formulation.
Instead of the traditional method of propelling the lipstick bulk upwards, the new design 'reveals' it by means of a retracting sheath.
This method is designed to maximise stability, for both the consumer and for filling line operation, said RPC.
An additional benefit is that the 'revealer' component has no spiral form, allowing the moulding to have a smooth external surface finish that is said to be suitable for a range of decorative processes to enhance branding and personalise the product.
Options include full peripheral printing of the 'revealer' using plain, holographic and coloured foils, lacquer coating to add a metallic finish, colour-matching to other components or contents and even a completely transparent pack enabling full visibility of the formulation colour.
RPC claimed that cost-effectiveness is assured as Reveal is designed with fewer components for easier assembly, with simple mouldings and tool manufacture.
Furthermore, Reveal's decorative flexibility has replaced the need for the industry standard anodised aluminium 'A' shell, streamlining the supply chain for full in-house manufacture and low minimum orders.
Ian Smith, sales manager at RPC Beaute Thornaby, said: "Reveal represents real innovation and demonstrates RPC Beaute Thornaby's core skills as a provider of designed products.
We are sure that lipstick brand companies will be quick to recognise its numerous benefits.".
